How to Change Your Roblox Display Name
Your Roblox display name is the name shown above your character and across the app — and unlike your @username, it is free to change. Here is exactly how to change it on PC and mobile, plus the rules you need to know.
Steps
- Open account settings. Log in to Roblox, click the gear icon in the top-right corner (PC) or the three dots menu (mobile), and choose Settings.
- Open the Account Info tab. Select the Account Info section. You will see your username and a separate Display Name field.
- Edit your display name. Click the pencil or Edit icon next to Display Name, then type or paste your new name (up to 20 characters).
- Save your changes. Click Save. Your new display name applies immediately everywhere in Roblox.
Display Name vs Username
Roblox gives you two names. Your @username is your permanent login handle — it only allows letters, numbers, and a single underscore, and changing it costs 1,000 Robux. Your display name is the friendly name shown above your avatar and in chat; it is free to change and can include symbols and fancy Unicode fonts.
